History

When the AIA Palm Beach Chapter was originally founded Okeechobee, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties were included. As the area grew in population the needs of the architects changed and the Indian River Section of the Palm Beach Chapter broke off to become the Indian River Chapter in 1980.

In 1996, led by John M. Foster - AIA, the Martin Section of the Palm Beach Chapter broke off to join the Indian River Chapter. The name was changed to The Treasure Coast Chapter shortly thereafter. In 2005, the name was officially recorded with the State of Florida as The American Institute of Architects Treasure Coast, Inc.
